| Top Attractions in Manchester, England! |
|
Manchester is one of our top haunts, mainly because there are those among us who are fans of that famous Manchester United football club. The city is located in North West England. According to the British Tourist Association, Manchester happens to be England’s third hot tourism hot spot in 1997. The 2002 Commonwealth Games which was hosted by Manchester further develop the city’s tourism industry to this very day. Most people consider Manchester as England’s second top city right after London. Throughout the world, Manchester is the world’s first modern industrial city and has become an exemplary role model for many other emerging industrial cities. Manchester has a very rich history dating back to the days of the Roman times. It was once a humble small town and began to flourish in the 18th century. It was later promoted to city status in mid 19th century thanks to the development of their influential neighboring city of Salford. The city grew bigger in power during the Industrial Revolution era. Believe it or not, the city was one time ago well known for its cotton and textile industries and was nicknamed Cottonopolis! In 1970s, Greater Manchester was born, a group of 8 boroughs and 2 cities under the administration of the Metropolitan County of Greater Manchester. Oh boy, I’m beginning to have headaches from writing all this. All right, enough all ready. We did a brainstorm session among ourselves strictly for the purpose of determining the best words to describe Manchester to the people on the street. Apart from the city’s highly known associations with football clubs such as Manchester United and Manchester City, we found that Manchester is among the world’s top destinations for shopping. London tops Manchester of course but Manchester does have its attractions. Anyone heard of King St? This is an exclusive shopping area where you can find top fashion design labels in most stores. It is interesting to take note here that King St has many preserved old buildings and that made a trip to King St all worthwhile. If you happen to be fanatical fans of Manchester United or Manchester City and the rest of your family members love shopping, then Manchester would be the best place for everyone.
